In presenting this text to the profession, a valuable contribution has been made to the nursing literature. Revision of the book written by the late Sr. Stephanie was a challenge to the present author but she has fulfilled the urgent need of writing a book on Nursing by an Indian Nurse. It also contributes to providing a textbook on the Practice of Nursing for student nurses in India. In this revised text, Sr. Nancy has incorporated theoretical knowledge to perform nursing procedures that fulfill the purpose of nursing education. The students would find that better learning takes place where scientific principles are applied. The contents of the book cover the syllabus prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council which sustains a uniform standard of nursing education in the country. The present author states that the primary purpose of this work is to provide a textbook for young students who are studying to get qualified as professional nurses. After being qualified, the practice of nursing is their primary function. This book has detailed information to understand Nursing Procedures which would benefit students and graduates to maintain a high standard of nursing practice for humanitarian service and the dignity and status of the profession.
