It is not uncommon to hear that students adore international law, whether from professional, academic or examination perspective. International law is also an interesting subject because it is concerned with progressive ideals of law and exploring how certain legal principles have come to be revered and complied with even though they impact myopic interests of States. As a legal professional, there are numerous opportunition under various branches of international law-human rights, corporate, arbitration, environmental among others. The core principles of international law, however, can be deceivingly simple. One would do well to remember that simple straight forward principles require years of work for interpretation, application and appreciation. Mountains of legal work lie behind most of the Articles of international instruments. Thus, it is important to take time to understand the context and present evolution of any legal principle or Article to truly utilize it.
